Strengthen Your Parenting Skills

The way we raise our children is directly influenced by the way we were raised. Changing behaviors requires changing attitudes and developing or strengthening skills in positive parent interaction.

Nurturing Parenting Programs (NPP) are free, family-based parenting programs designed to build nurturing parenting skills as an alternative to abusive and neglecting parenting and child-rearing practices.

This evidence based program targets all families at risk for abuse and neglect with children birth to 18 years.

Long-Term Goals of the Nurturing Parenting Programs:

  • To prevent recidivism in families receiving social service
  • To lower the rate of multi-parent, teenage pregnancies
  • To reduce the rate of juvenile delinquency and alcohol abuse
  • To stop the intergenerational cycle of child abuse by teaching positive parenting behaviors

The philosophy of Nurturing Parenting Programs emphasizes the importance of raising children in a warm, trusting and caring household. It is founded on the belief that children who are cared for develop the capacity to trust, care and respect themselves, other people and living creatures and the environment.
